Celebrity chef Diana Chan’s recipe for hospitality success

MasterChef Australia 2017 winner and former accountant Diana Chan’s Recipe for Hospitality Success is a comprehensive set of tips and tricks to help those thinking of starting a hospitality business.

Everyone who’s ever worked in hospitality knows this industry is no piece of cake.

The hours are long, the work is hard, and the business’s success is often completely reliant on the whims of foot traffic.

That doesn’t mean enterprising individuals aren’t creating successful new hospitality concepts – in fact, they’re popping up all the time.

But if you’ve never started a hospitality business before, striking out on your own is likely to come with a healthy helping of trial and error, which includes a side order of financial risk.

Enter MasterChef Australia 2017 winner and former accountant, Diana Chan.

Not only has Chan proved herself in the world of finance as well as in the crucible of the MasterChef kitchens, she’s also gone on to become a prominent celebrity chef, with several hospitality experiences, food
products and menus under her name.

“The MasterChef experience was a huge learning curve for me,” said Chan, “and it’s opened up a world of opportunities for me since then.

“I’m very excited to be able to provide some of the lessons I’ve learned over the past few years so that other new business owners can avoid the costliest mistakes.”

From planning your initial concept, through market research and even some of the more technical points around designing a menu for maximum efficiency and sustainability, Chan’s new guide is designed to be the first thing you read before launching your hospitality business journey.

“Having experience in accounting has given me a deeper appreciation of business finances,” said Chan. “Things like reading a profit and loss statement, maintaining healthy cash flow and accurate recordkeeping can be incredibly daunting for the first-time business owner.

“You may have worked in hospitality and even helped manage a hospitality business but going it alone can be an altogether more stomach-churning experience.”
