Rewarding growing businesses in the mid-market

Tim Reed recently had the pleasure of judging and attending the 2014 Telstra Australian Business of the Year award. As always, it was a fantastic event for Tim, signifying a huge celebration for the drivers of our economy – small and medium businesses across Australia.
“These awards are very special to us at MYOB. In 1996 when we had just 40 employees and around 70,000 clients, we entered the awards. The application process, then as it does now, forced us to reflect on where we’d come from and where we were going. Never did we imagine that we’d win … but win we did,” says Tim.
He still views winning the Australian Business of the Year award as a defining part of MYOB’s journey. It gave the business confidence and materially lifted our profile.
Awarding mid-market excellence
Today, nearly two decades later, we have clients spanning from small startups through to large multinational businesses. We’ve also grown from winning a small business award to sponsoring an award for larger businesses.
MYOB now jointly sponsors the Australian Growth Company Awards (ACGA), now running in its third year. The Australian Growth Company Awards celebrate excellence in the mid-market, recognising companies that has shown high growth rates as well as innovation, integrity, contribution to community and sustainability.
This is our way of paying it forward, after receiving the boost we needed back when we first started out. There are four awards up for grabs: Growth Company of the Year, Growth Company CEO of the Year, Exit of the Year and Growth Company to Watch. Read the criteria for each of the category. If your business is growing in leaps and bounds, nominate yourself by 15 September.
